Night two of the preliminary competition at the Eden Prairie Performing Arts Center kicked off with hosts Brad Carlson & Siri Freeh-Thaden Miss MN 2012.

Miss Minnesota 2015 Rachel Latuff helped in livening the crowd by challenging the judges to a ribbon dance off. Two judges participated; the crowd went wild over the leaps, twirls and splits performed by one judge. Wanting to concede, the other judge took the stage and wowed the crowd with her dynamic ribbon movements painting the stage and sky with ease!

Lifestyle and Fitness in a Swimsuit for contestants 1-14. The ladies were graceful and truly demonstrated why Miss America focuses on overall wellbeing by carrying on the swimsuit competition tradition!

Talent!!! This was a jam packed night! Piano, Celtic vocals, tap dance, contemporary dance, electric violin... You name it we saw it!

Following intermission the crowd enjoyed a performance by the Northern Lights princesses. For Rachel's pageant career she has had the same NLP. Together Amaya and Rachel performed a special dance incorporating ribbon and matching outfits to a montage of Taylor Swift songs!

Evening gown tonight was wonderful! Dresses in reds, blues, a vibrant yellow, brilliant plum, and more!!! The silhouettes were everything from mermaid to ball gown and A-line.

Overall tonight's show was amazing!

Get to know each contestant in the eye's of her roommate! We've asked each contestant to interview her roommate... this is what she had to say:
Picture

Presented by Miss South Central - Alyssa Crum

This year at Miss Minnesota, I have the honor of rooming with the lovely Allison Christenson, Miss Perham. Allison and I share a common love for animals. Her platform is entitled, “Celebrating Animals and Ending Animal Cruelty." When asked what inspired her platform, Allison answered, "I have always been around animals ever since I was little. I even asked Santa and the Tooth Fairy to give me kittens! So when I wanted to start competing in pageants, I immediately decided to focus on a platform involving animals." Allison has always enjoyed speaking in front of audiences which is why she chose to perform a monologue as her talent. She says that, "I just love to be able to tell people about topics that I am passionate about and what they can do to make a difference." I asked Allison a couple of more “difficult” questions such as what her favorite guilty pleasure food is. She answered, "I love cheese! Pretty much anything that’s cheesy, I’ll like." So it sounds like the two of us may be found in our hotel room indulging in Cheez-Its and Doritos after rehearsals. When asked for one weird fact about herself, Allison said that when she was about 5 years old, her absolute favorite movie was Men In Black. Lastly, I asked her where she would go in a time machine and she chose the 60’s because she would love to experience the amazing music from that time period. I am so excited to be spending my Miss Minnesota experience with Allison by my side! It's going to be a very memorable week!

Get to know each contestant in the eye's of her roommate! We've asked each contestant to interview her roommate... this is what she had to say:
Picture

Presented by Miss Coon Rapids Alexis Houle

Meet My Beautiful Roommate!

I have the honor of rooming with an incredible young woman this coming week: Miss Moorehead Brooke Critchley! From the little I have spoken with Brooke (and the copious amounts of Facebook "creeping" I have inevitably done), I can already tell that this girl is so beautiful, both inside and out.

In an attempt to get to know my roommate a little better, and to give you all a sneak peak of Brooke behind the scenes, I have asked her a series of questions to which her answers are posted below. Enjoy!

What is your platform and why did you choose it?
My platform is "Fighting Hunger, Fueling Education" and I chose it because of my passion surrounding the importance of providing equal education to all students combined with my love and experience being an ambassador for the nation's largest youth-led food drive, Fill the Dome. As a future educator, this is a platform issue I will forever feel passion for.

What is your favorite post-pageant snack?
My favorite post pageant snack are grapes!! I know it is strange but I'm normally so thirsty, hungry, and craving something sweet after pageants and grapes take care of all of that (the grapes are followed by lots of chocolate)

What is your talent, and how long have you been doing it?
I dance for my talent and I actually haven't been doing it for very long. My dad, grandpa, and uncles all coach basketball so I played until I was 13. I realized I would much rather be on a stage performing than on a court and started training intensely with my saxophone, choir, and ballet. Dance quickly became my favorite and, six years later, I'm still in love with it!

What are you most looking forward to during Miss Minnesota week?
I wish I could pinpoint one thing I am most excited for at Miss Minnesota, but I really can't. It is my first year and I am just so excited for everything! I am getting the opportunity to pursue my biggest dream and I can't imagine being more excited for anything but that.

What is one crazy thing I should expect as your roommate?
One crazy thing to expect from me is that I am incredibly clumsy! Be prepared to laugh at me constantly tripping or dropping things!
