Our Experience Our Story: Recovering Narrative In Women’s Health
Lauren grew up in Frazee, MN and is the daughter of Paul and Kimberly Anderson. She is one of six kids, and graduated from Perham High School in 2015. Attending college at the age of 17, at the University of Minnesota in Rochester, Lauren graduated at the early age of 21 with her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. Lauren was very involved in school, she started her own Acapella Group, represented Rochester at the UMN Board of Regents for two years, and remains very active in the community at Mayo Clinic, the Women’s Shelter, Hiawatha Homes and more! In her free time, you can find Lauren running, reading, or singing (and sometimes all three).
Lauren has been doing Women’s Health research and advocacy for the last three years, and is currently working to publish her research! The biggest thing that she has found throughout her project is that women have been made to feel like they can’t talk about their own reproductive health! Women have shared with Lauren, through interviews in her qualatative research project that talking about it and sharing their experiences with one another will begin to fight the taboo, so she promotes conversation surrounding Women’s health throughout the south central area in focus groups, letters, and images to change the conversation!
