Natalie Berg competed for the title of Miss Minnesota's Teen and was crowned on March 25th, 2023. Natalie is currently a Junior at Coon Rapids High School in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. As of now, Natalie has earned over $4,500 in educational scholarships through the Miss America's Teen Organization.

Throughout Natalie's time in high school, she has been involved in DECA, as Vice President, Girl Scouts, Irish Dancing, and volunteering time at the Best Buddies Fashion show. But throughout that time, she found something that she is so passionate about, which is youth literacy.

Natalie's Social Impact Initiative, Building Children’s Literacy: One Book at a Time, aims to get the word out about literacy and educate people by leading informational sessions on the need for books for preschool and daycare teachers, preschools, and centers.   Natalie states, "I created the social impact initiative, Building Children’s Literacy: One Book at a Time, with the goals to (1) raise awareness about children’s literacy and (2) get as many books into the hands of children as possible. Sadly, 80% of preschools in America do not have age-appropriate books for children, and an average school has only 27% of the books recommended by the district curriculum. Therefore, not only are children missing out on having access to books, but they are also missing out on the right books. This is devastating because reading helps children grow and develop social and emotional skills and provides foundations for future learning. Further, books give children new ideas, experiences, and insights into concepts and behaviors that the might encounter in their own lives."

Additional Information:
Natalie was honored with the Decade of Dance Award for Irish Dancing.  She was lucky enough to travel around Ireland and perform Irish Dancing.  Natalie also received the National Girl Scouts Medal of Honor.  When Natalie isn't involved in her school or golf team, you can find her working at Sweet Martha's cookies during the State Fair!

In August 2023, Natalie will compete for the title of Miss America's Teen! More info to follow, but we cannot wait to cheer her on at the National competition!
