To become a local or state participant for the Competition Cycle 2026, competing as a State Titleholder at nationals in January 2026, you must meet the age criteria as shown below.
UPDATE regarding MISS eligibility:
- Miss America 18-28 – must be 18 by state competition, and no older than 27 at state competition.
- Contestants who are 18 may choose to compete as a teen or a miss contestant. But once you choose either teen or miss, you can't switch back to one or the other.
UPDATE regarding TEEN eligibility:
- Miss America’s Teen 14-18 – must be 14 by state competition and no older than 18 at state competition.
- Contestants who are 18 may choose to compete as a teen or a miss contestant. But once you choose either teen or miss, you can't switch back to one or the other.
For All Ages you must ALSO meet criteria as shown below:
- Be a United States citizen
- Be a female
- Single
- No legal dependents
- Meet residency requirements for competing in your city or state
Win a Local Competition
- Local competitions are held throughout the State of Minnesota between July and February. Interested contestants are strongly encouraged to compete in a local competition because of the many benefits. Contestants who win a local competition immediately qualify to advance to the state competition, while gaining scholarships, leadership experience, and the support of an official Miss Minnesota Local Organization and Director. Local organizations may provide access to community bookings and appearances, sponsorships, wardrobe assistance, and preparation for the state competition. Local Competition Page
Fair, Festival or Community Pageant
- Contestants who have won a judged event, a college/university title, or a community fair/festival title may also qualify to compete at the state competition. Contact us Jodi Pinske to learn more and determine if your event qualifies you to compete in our state competitions.
At-Large Opportunity
- At Large contestants have the opportunity to be chosen starting NOW. While winning a local competition comes with the advantage of having a local community support, we want every area of Minnesota to be represented at the state competition. Note: If you live in an area where local competitions are held, we ask that you compete there first. There is a cost to compete At Large.
- At Large Registration Page - available in October, at large contestants will begin registration on November 1, 2024.
