As Presented by Miss Brainerd Lakes -Danielle Hron

Miss North Star, Madison Truscinski is attending school for athletic training and is pre-accepted to the Physical Therapy program at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. After completing her education, she would like to provide outreach rehab programs while also offering athletic training services to high schools. Madison was drawn to this career because she wants to help others lead happier, healthier lives despite injury or level of ability.

Madison has a passion for service, so she strives to give in the same capacity as one of her role models, Mother Teresa. Madison believes that generosity and helping the less fortunate is important to help our world understand empathy and compassion. Immediately after finishing her degree, Madison plans to go on mission trips. Because of her knowledge in physical therapy, she will be able to provide care to people who need in most in impoverished areas of our world.

Even from a young age, Madison has always loved serving her community, so the Miss Minnesota Organization is a perfect fit. Madison chose to compete because she realized that the Miss America Organization stands for more than just a pretty face. The Miss America Organization brings talented, kind, and intelligent women together, and Madison is excited to be a part of this unforgettable sisterhood.

Even though this is Madison’s first year competing for the title of Miss Minnesota, she is no rookie when it comes to pageants. When she was a little girl, Madison used to compete in pageants and was the last ever Jr. Miss Greenbush in 2006.

Madison’s strong emphasis on service continues through her platform, titled “Operation: Embrace the Mirror”. Her focus is “loving the inner you” because when we can learn to love ourselves, we can have the courage and confidence to stand up for ourselves and our beliefs. Madison created this platform because she, many of her classmates, and her younger sister, have all been bullied to the point of having low self-esteem. Due to the amount of bullying Madison experienced, she thought she would never succeed. The effects of bullying pushed her to give up on her dreams. Because of this, she was forced experience many complex emotions and even transferred schools. This experience fueled Madison to tell her story about how she developed the skills and confidence to overcome labels, rumors, and the many effects of bullying.

After some reflection, Madison recognized the exact moment when she began to believe in herself once again. Madison attended a pageant at which Miss Marshall County gave a talk about her platform related to positive self-esteem. That presentation moved Madison to begin writing her goals and dreams on the mirror in her bathroom. This practice lead her to the title of her own platform, “Operation: Embrace the Mirror.”

To help others overcome as she has, Madison has started a social media campaign using the hashtag #OperationEmbrace. She uses this hashtag to show others that in order to truly enjoy life we must embrace every aspect. This includes everything that may be unfair, or saddening. Allowing ourselves to embrace the full spectrum of emotion helps to make us who we are and to live life to the fullest. “Operation: Embrace the Mirror” powerfully addresses issues that many of us face every day. Thanks to Madison’s passionate efforts, our world is made to be a better place.

“Operation: Embrace the Mirror” is not the only powerful thing Madison plans on bringing to the Miss Minnesota stage. Her talent also embraces power. She chose a Celtic Vocal piece called “The Voice”. Madison loves singing to anything with a strong female voice, which lead her to choose this song.

In addition to interview and performing her talent, Madison is looking forward to spending time with her Northern Lights Princess, Piper. Piper’s little brother, Oliver has spent a lot of time in CMN hospitals, with Piper always at his side. Madison recognized what a gift Piper was and decided to treat Piper with the exciting experience of becoming a Northern Lights Princess. After a few days of searching, Madison was able to find a sponsor for Piper, so she could attend without added financial obligation to her family. Both Madison and Piper were happy to hear this news.

After taking the time to get to know Madison I am moved by how she uses her experiences to shape her life and improve the lives of others. I am lucky to call her my roommate and cannot wait to begin the excitement of Miss Minnesota week with her!
