As Presented by Miss North Star - Madison Truscinski

My roommate is Danielle Hron, Miss Brainerd Lakes and she is one special woman. Danielle started competing in the Miss Minnesota Scholarship pageant after she began medical school to make a bigger impact using all the new skills that she was learning. One thing that she has done is create her own free mobile clinic that visits soup kitchens in the Twin Cities area twice a week to offer health care, screening, and resources to a diverse and economically undeserved population. Her dedication to service and scholarship is what influenced her into taking part in the Miss Minnesota Scholarship Organization. After taking part in her first pageant she found a love for the talent portion because she really enjoys the challenge of learning a new song and perfecting it. However, the talent portion isn't the only part that she loves. She also really enjoys the interview portion of competition because she has been able to practice poise under pressure and thinking quickly on her feet. She feels that the interview is where she can leave her lasting impression on the judges. Danielle also loves preparing for the lifestyle and fitness portion of competition by cooking creative new dishes and striving to make them healthier each time, and she really enjoys exercising stating that it is a must in her life. Miss Brainerd Lakes is an only child who loves the color purple. When she was accepted into her number one choice for medical school she celebrated by dying her hair bright purple, which really helped to break the ice with a lot of her classmates. One of Danielle's dreams is to travel to each place that represents her heritage, which includes France, Sweden, Poland, and Bohemia. She has already traveled to France, so that leaves her with three more countries to go. When I asked Danielle how she wanted to improve and inspire the world she stated, "I want everybody to be healthy. I plan to inspire people to make their health a priority and I work endlessly to improve access to medical services for everybody in the state of Minnesota. I am a member of the Minnesota Medical Association and serve as the only student doctor on their Public Health Committee, I advocate for accessible health care and improved rural health care in legislation, and I provide health care through direct outreach. I hope to inspire other medical professionals to adopt a culture of service to further reduce human suffering. On top of all this, I want to inspire little girls that they can do the same. They can be successful in the sciences, they can improve their community, and they can accomplish their dreams no matter how big they may seem."

After asking all of the questions that most people would ask a Miss Minnesota contestant I decided to switch up the questions a bit. I asked Danielle if she could be any kitchen utensil what would she be and why? She responded saying that she would love to be a cup because milk and water are her two of her favorite things, and all of her cups are purple, so that would be a major plus. I then proceeded to ask her what makes her world go round getting the reply of coffee, taking breaks for social media, and her support system. I learned several other interesting facts about Danielle Hron like the fact that she has spent 24 hours in a car chaperoning a mission trip to Alabama, and the weirdest thing she has ever eaten is Kale protein pancakes. Throughout getting to know Danielle I have learned that she is an amazing, service oriented, and hardworking young woman who wants to change the world by living out her dreams. The last question that I asked her was how do you want to impact the world with your career choice or future career choice and this is her answer:

" I have worked my entire life so that I could be successful in becoming a doctor. I may be biased, but I feel as though medicine is the greatest career choice in the world because I get to serve in such a high capacity while becoming an expert of the human body. Every day I find at least one thing that confirms that I have chosen the best career path for me. I will have the opportunity to impact more lives than I will even be able to count, or even remember. I will always strive to provide compassionate care, because connecting with patients is a huge part of making them feel better. I will have the chance to be with people on the best days of their lives and the worst days of their live. For this reason, I will be mindful in each patient encounter, because my interaction with patients and families will be branded into their minds forever, so I will ensure that they remember me as caring and compassionate."
