Hello everyone! I am Jillian Bain, Miss Perham’s Teen 2024. I am a sophomore at Perham High School. I enjoy participating in Cross Country, Business Professionals of America, Student Council, and Competitive Dance.

I have been involved with the Miss America Organization for 3 years. I was Miss Moorhead’s Teen last year and competed for Miss Minnesota’s Teen, which was an amazing experience; I can’t wait to do it again this year.

Being a part of this organization I have learned that each part of the Miss America crown is significant and represents something important: Service, Style, Scholarship, Success, and Sisterhood. One point of the Miss America crown is scholarship. During the state competition last year, I was honored to be awarded a $300 essay scholarship. The scholarship was in memory of Miss Minnesota’s Teen 2022, Julia Schumacher’s best friend, who sadly passed away in a car accident. The essay question was “How am I a light in other people's lives?” As a local titleholder this year, I continue to strive to work with this in mind when I am making appearances whether they are in schools or the public. I love making personal connections with the people I meet.

I have won $450 in scholarships through my journey in the Miss Minnesota Organization. I hope to put the scholarships that I receive from competing in this organization towards studying Broadcast Journalism and Mass Communication in college. My career goal is to be a Sideline Reporter for a major sports network.

My talent is contemporary/lyrical dance. I have been dancing since I was 2 years old, and I have always had a passion for it. I chose the song “Glow” by The Lion Heart Experience. My dance studio and I worked with this group back in December. We went to a couple of schools in our area and danced for them. In the end, we also filmed a music video with them for their new song called “Cold Streets”.

My Community Service Initiative is Bio-Girls: Raising self-esteem through physical activity. I am a proud junior mentor for this organization and I love helping teach lessons to the girls involved with the organization. Every week we do a journaling session, small group, and big group discussion and we learn about the mantra of the week. After the sessions, we go out and run! We started at 1 mile and we built it up to do a 5k in mid-May which will show the progress that the girls have made throughout the sessions.

Some fun facts about me are that I love to travel and I have been to every state west of the Mississippi River except for Alaska. I was also in my first music video in December and it was an unforgettable experience!

In my free time, I love to spend time with my dog, Willow. I love to take her on long walks on warm sunny days. I also love to spend time on the lake in the summer with my friends and family.
