Anna Brennan comes from the small town of Byron, located just outside of Rochester. As a junior at Byron High School, she balances a full schedule of college courses at the University of Northwestern St.Paul, a restaurant job, dance training, and a multitude of other extracurricular activities. She is a singer with the South Eastern Minnesota Honors Concert Choir, a classical ballet dancer of 15 years, and is participating in her first professional musical theater production this spring. She is a member of her high school’s student council, the Rochester Olmsted Youth Council, and an active member of the FFA organization. Recently elected as the Minnesota Region VIII Secretary, she enjoys being an active advocate for the agricultural community.
Through her experience as a state-winning FFA speaker, social media assistant, and time as a teen columnist for The Post Bulletin, Anna is preparing for a bright future as a notable political journalist. Working for a nationwide news network, she hopes to one day find herself with a media pass to the Press Briefing Room at the White House. She is passionate about being a figure that people can trust and respect and hopes to embody that in the future and now through her social impact initiative.
Beginning her platform SHI: The Social Health Initiative at the start of 2023, Anna has already reached a large audience with her message about the connection between social media and mental health. Anna teaches her peers through her YouTube platform and face-to-face how they can adopt healthy phone habits to better their mental health and their relationships with their devices.
Anna is excited to take the stage representing her hometown and the Rochester area this March and looks forward to getting the opportunity to be a role model for so many young women across the state of Minnesota. She plans to use her platform in the Miss America Organization to promote the importance of being a genuine role model through her social impact and her outreach within the community.
