Lainey Donoghue, 20, is a seasoned model and pageant competitor who has dreamed of competing at the Miss Minnesota stage since she was young. An entrepreneur at heart, Lainey is a freelance makeup artist and is the Head MUA for Rxrunway and BeautyByPharmD Cosmetics. She is also a Target Fit Model and graduated with her Associate’s degree in Business at North Hennepin Community College last spring with plans to pursue her Bachelor’s soon. In the future, Lainey plans to be CEO of a diverse modeling and acting agency dedicated to confidence building and empowerment of all sizes and backgrounds.
Lainey has walked runways in New York, Paris, and Miami, and is soon headed to Milan, Los Angeles, and Dubai. Promoting #thesizemediummodel across her social media, Lainey is passionate about advocating for diversity in the modeling industry. She leads by example, by breaking stereotypes and advocating for change as a “mid-size” model. Lainey is also an advocate for authenticity and promotes being your unique self both as a titleholder and beyond. Lainey’s Community Service Initiative is My Crown Magazine, a model magazine dedicated to the confidence building and empowerment of today’s youth. Growing up, she struggled to see her self-worth due to bullying and has made it her mission throughout her journey to help others see that everyone has an invisible crown, they just might not see it yet. Lainey has featured models both locally and nationally in her issues and additionally has plans to host confidence-building workshops across the state during her reign as Miss Minnesota Valley. Lainey has also worked closely with various nonprofit organizations through the years such as North Side Blessings, Sharing and Caring Hands, and Special Olympics.
Lainey has a huge heart for the entertainment industry, especially singing. She has been performing on karaoke stages and competing in talent shows from age 6. Some of her music accolades include the Los Angeles Industry Network’s Singer of The Year, PBS Celebration of Music’s Finalist, and the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest Teen Division Winner. In addition to singing, Lainey is also a seasoned actress. A self-proclaimed “theater kid,” some of her favorite roles have been The Cat in The Hat in Seussical, Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty, Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Snow White in Snow White, and The Witch in Big Fish. She has also acted in films and commercials, ranging from local short film productions to national commercials and even an appearance on Nickelodeon.
Other miscellaneous facts about Lainey are that she can communicate the alphabet in three languages (English, Spanish, and American Sign Language,) she has a thumb deformity, and has a hobby for gaming, especially playing League of Legends. She is also a huge Webkinz fan and has collected nearly 200 stuffed animal pets. Lastly, Lainey is a certified lifeguard and swim instructor, and a former competitive figure skater. She is stoked to take the stage and see you in June at Miss Minnesota!
