Natalie Demos attends Rasmussen University Mankato’s School of Nursing pursing her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) to achieve her dream of becoming a trauma nurse. She is on track to obtaining her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) to reach her goal of treating patients on a provider-level as a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP). Natalie currently works for Assistance in Recovery, Inc. (AiRCare Health), a mental health company out of St Paul, Minnesota, as a Care Advocate!
Since 2018, Natalie has dedicated her time to advocating for the mental health community and removing the stigma around mental health. She created her Community Service Initiative, Let’s Talk About It: Normalizing the Discussion of Mental Health, to further her mission. Utilizing her personal connection to mental illness, Natalie openly shares her mental health story to inspire, encourage, and make a difference. She’s created momentum for her cause by partnering with many non-profit organizations including the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Minnesota and Love Your Mental, LLC and working with legislators at the Minnesota State Capitol to continue her work. She’s helped countless individuals share their stories through her “Your Story Matters” series where she helps others share their stories with mental health to normalize discussions about mental health, encourage others, and create a safe space for all to talk about it. But don’t worry, she is just getting started and is looking forward to continuing her impact. Be on the look out! By participating in the Miss America Opportunity, Natalie was finally able to chase her dream of becoming a nurse. After moving from home and entering the workforce at the age of 18, Natalie had to put her academic pursuits on hold in order to find independence and financial stability. The scholarships she has earned through competing within the Miss America Opportunity have awarded her the ability to make her dreams a reality; Working full time for a mental health company, attending nursing school and giving back to her community is all possible because of this organization. As Miss St Croix Valley, she continues to advocate for the organization’s mission to continue to change the lives of women - just as it has done for her. Now, Natalie is a jack of all trades! You can find her volunteering for organizations such as GiGi’s Playhouse and Special Olympics Minnesota, or at the Crimson Pointe Senior Living Facility performing for the residents with her ukulele. When she isn’t working, studying, or volunteering, she loves spending time with her big Greek family, playing with her basset hound Asher Mountain and kitten Theo Furbottom, and adding new pairs of Crocs™️ to her Crocs™️ collection! |
