Young, Sober, and Thriving is a community service initiative dedicated to raising awareness about substance misuse and addiction in young people, educating about prevention, and advocating for accessibility to treatment. Young, Sober, and Thriving works to equip youth with the knowledge and tools they need to make healthy choices. Through school presentations, community outreach, and media engagement, May Diddy shares her personal journey and provides resources to help youth build resilience and strong coping skills. She partners with The Lion House Brownstone, a sober living home, to further extend support to individuals in recovery and connect them with valuable resources. She is also on local committees that plan and host holiday events for young people in the recovery community across Minnesota. By fostering open conversations and offering support, she empowers young people to make informed decisions and create a future free from addiction.
Titleholder Biography: May Diddy is a passionate performer and advocate whose journey from the stage to the screen has been shaped by resilience, determination, and a love for storytelling. A graduate of The New School College of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama, May has built a career in theater, film, and television, captivating audiences with her dynamic presence and heartfelt performances. With extensive training in acting, voice, and dance, May has worked on a variety of theatrical productions, films, and television projects. She is dedicated to bringing authenticity to every role she takes on, using the power of performance to connect with audiences and inspire emotion. As a local titleholder in the Miss Minnesota organization, May uses her platform to raise awareness about substance misuse and addiction in young people—a cause deeply personal to her as someone in long-term recovery. Through her community service initiative, Young, Sober & Thriving, she shares her story with students, legislators, healthcare professionals, and communities across Minnesota to spark conversation, reduce stigma, and inspire prevention. In 2025, May launched her live children’s puppet show, “Miss May's Bright Spot,” a heart-centered program that helps young children learn emotional regulation and healthy coping skills through music, storytelling, and playful interaction. The show is part of her broader mission to support emotional wellness in children and provide early tools that can prevent harmful coping behaviors later in life. Today, May is not only an actress but an educator, mentor, and advocate for empowerment, recovery, and emotional wellness. Whether performing, mentoring, or giving back to her community, she is dedicated to using her voice and platform to create meaningful change—and help the next generation shine a little brighter. |
