Talent: Poetry
Social Impact: The Road to Access - Breast Cancer Awareness Southern Sweeps - Great Lakes, Granite City, Heartland, and Itasca Date: TBA Keja Berry graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2020. She has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Sociology of Law, Criminology and Deviance. Her aspiration is to become a Physician Assistant. She is proud to be a first generation college graduate!
Her talent, poetry is very important to her. She grew up reciting poems in church. "Poetry is a way to get people to listen to your message. Dr. Maya Angelo has had a major impact on writers and listeners. Her words were used to promote activism for the rights of African Americans and women in general." Her social impact, "The Road to Access - Breast Cancer Awareness" was inspired by the many women that she knows who have had breast cancer, which include both family members and close family friends. She also grew up in an "underserved community" so she knows first-hand that having access to healthcare is very important. Keja looks forward to serving in the community as an advocate for underserved communities. |
