Class of 2022
Talent: Fancy Shawl Dance
Social Impact: Water You Doing? Advocate of Mother Earth's Natural Resources Director: Nicky Hardy nickyhardy@missminnesota.org Next Competition Date: 2023 TBA |
The talent portion of Miss Minnesota is very important to Lori since it allows her to share her Native American culture with others. She has been dancing Fancy Shawl since she was three years old and has many fond memories of dancing as a child. Through the years, she’s danced at a variety of cultural events/powwows and has became friends with many people across Turtle Island.
Lori’s social impact initiative is called: “Water You Doing?” Advocate of Mother Earth’s Natural Resources. In the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota definitely cares about our water; however, caring about water and caring for water are two different things. As an advocate for environmental concerns, Lori teaches simple behaviors we can all do, such as turning off water faucets when we’re brushing our teeth and purchasing household or beauty products without micro plastics. Conservation of our water and environment begins with one person, one community, one nation raising awareness and advocating for our natural resources. If we all work together, we can unleash hope for our future generations to sustain a healthy environment. Lori is eager to meet the other contestants and looks forward to the opportunity to be interviewed for the job of Miss Minnesota and to serve the people of Minnesota.
