Nice to meet you! I’m Sage Hovet, Miss Anoka County 2024.
I have been involved with the Miss Minnesota organization for over a decade and I am so excited to be on my way to the Miss Minnesota 2024 stage! I feel so lucky to be representing an organization that provides so many opportunities to young women like me. Here are some ways that the Miss Minnesota program has changed my life forever: Scholarship: The Miss America Opportunity isn't just a competition; it's a gateway to scholarship opportunities. Personally, I've earned over $8000 through the Miss Minnesota Program. With this financial support, I proudly graduated Magna Cum Laude from Viterbo University's Conservatory for the Performing Arts. Now armed (and dangerous) with my BFA in Music Theatre and minors in Dance and Arts Administration, my dream has extended to pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts degree, with the ultimate goal of chairing a university Musical Theatre training program. Service: My journey with Miss America goes far beyond competition—it introduced me to a calling to serve and uplift. This manifested in my CSI: Artful Hearts. My initiative is dedicated to empowering children facing critical illness with the magic of creativity. Some highlights have included collaborating with Make-A-Wish Minnesota, animating story time at Crescent Cove, and organizing craft drives for children battling cancer in our exceptional children's hospitals. Currently, I'm working on a super exciting project with Artful Hearts. Stay tuned!! Style: I practically grew up in this program - every questionable fashion choice I made as a tween was front and center for everyone to see. Talk about a confidence booster, right? Jokes aside, this program has shaped how I see myself, and how I want the rest of the world to perceive me. I have developed so much confidence, and I take pride in the unique style I have developed over the years. If I had to put a label on it, I would say I take heavy influences from the classic Hollywood movies I grew up watching. But hey, I’ll let you be the judge of that! Sisterhood: The glue behind this organization! Whenever I try to explain the bond with my Miss America sisters to others, I am aware of how cliche it can sound, but it is the truth. The strong, capable, amazing women I have the honor of sharing the stage with more than just fellow contestants - they are some of my very favorite people on the planet. Further, the mentorship I received from the Miss contestants as a teen changed my life - I am now an enthusiastic recruiter and passionate mentor for our teen candidates and Minnesota Northern Lights, affiliated with Miss America Little Sisters. Success: The Miss Minnesota Organization has been instrumental in shaping my personal success. Beyond any crown, it's responsible for my resilience, leadership, and self-trust. As a proud alumni, I am not just a product of MAO but one of its most enthusiastic advocates. Supporting MAO is an investment in opportunities for young women to grow, learn, and succeed - I can’t wait to share its impact with my community all year long. Fitness: Look, I know I was doing the points of the crown, but I just have to talk about #MissAmericaFit! As a performer, fitness is a massive part of my daily life—walking, running, lifting weights, dancing, and practicing pilates are not just my routines to stay performance-ready, but they have become my sources of joy. My personal fitness journey has led me to love group fitness classes at my local YMCA. From 18 to 80, movement is for everyone, and my goal is to become a certified barre instructor, sharing the joy of staying active with others. |
