I’m Emily Waterworth, and I’m so honored to serve as Miss North Star’s Teen 2026. I’m 17 years old, from the small town of Newfolden, Minnesota, and a full-time PSEO student working toward my dream of becoming an educator one day. I’ve always had a heart for helping others, especially kids, and I hope to someday stand at the front of a classroom, making a difference in the lives of my future students.
When I’m not studying or preparing for appearances, I work as the assistant manager at my family’s dog business, where I spend my days surrounded by puppies—something that brings me so much joy. There’s just something about caring for animals and seeing their unconditional love that reminds me why I love working with and helping others. One of the biggest passions I bring to this role is my Community Service Initiative, Defend Innocence: Child Sexual Abuse Awareness. While I wasn’t personally affected by abuse, I’ve seen how it has impacted people I care about. Their courage inspired me to become an advocate. Through my work with Saprea, an organization focused on healing and educating survivors, I’ve learned the importance of listening, standing up, and being a voice for those who haven’t found theirs yet. I believe prevention starts with education—and that’s why I speak out. Being Miss North Star’s Teen isn’t just about walking across a stage or wearing a crown. It’s about being a role model, showing up for your community, and inspiring the next generation of girls to lead with confidence, kindness, and purpose. Whether I’m mentoring a Little Miss, volunteering at a local event, or just having a conversation with someone who needs encouragement, I always remember that this journey is not about me, but the community I serve! I’m proud to be a small-town girl with a big heart—and I’m even more proud of the impact I get to make along the way. |
