Greetings!
My name is Annalynn Wallin, I am an avid reader, mystery lover, and organizing queen! I am completing my junior year at Frazee High School and a full time PSEO (Postsecondary Enrollment Options) student at Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Following my senior year, my goal is to graduate with my AA (Associates of Arts) Degree and pursue a degree in Project Management at Berkeley University in California. I am extremely community and family oriented, finding passion at a young age for giving back to my community. When I was 5 years old my brother was diagnosed with a rare disease called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, that had an everlasting impression on my life. During this time I recognized the value in giving back to those in need. A volunteer organization through the hospital where my brother was staying provided individuals to come sit with my brother when our family was unable to be there with him, providing laughter and comfort to my brother. These same volunteers would check in with my parents to see how they were handling the stress of the situation and provided meals to my family, so that it was one less thing my parents did not have to worry about during this difficult time. This truly touched my heart and made a lasting impact that influenced my passion to volunteer that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Community Service Initiative Throughout my years of volunteering I have found a cause that I am deeply devoted to, and that is food insecurity. I became aware of how many individuals are affected by food insecurity when I was volunteering at a local food packing drive in my community. It hit me on what a detrimental factor hunger plays on lives. I wanted to make an impact of change for the better so I took action. In the past five years I have organized food drives, created and implemented fundraisers, volunteered at food shelves, and educated students on this issue in and around my community. The goal I have set with my Community Service Initiative is to extend my reach and make it a priority as Minnnesotans, to work together to decrease the 483,000 individuals that are going hungry in our state each year (Hungersolutions.org). Talent Dance has been a part of my life since the age of 4. No matter how difficult my day may be or how exhausted I may feel, I forget about the worries of the day when I walk through the studio doors, it’s like going to my second home. I will be performing a contemporary dance on the Miss Minnesota Teen Stage. Dancing is a form of art, the talent piece I chose has a story of its own, one I can not wait to share on the big stage with all of you. About Me I am a complete book worm, especially when it involves a good mystery, even better if it involves a mystery escape room! I absolutely love organization with every part of my life. My friends and family might even describe me as being obsessed with organization! If you saw my closet you would notice that it is always in order and color coded. I enjoy making sure things are neat, tidy, and in their specific spot. However, this is not always an easy accomplishment with three younger brothers! When I'm not reading, organizing, or spending time with my family you can find me running or participating in an assortment of clubs such as Interact, Student Council, and Minnesota Honor Society. This year has been the most incredible journey I have experienced so far in my young life. I can't wait to turn the page and see what the next chapter will be!
