My name is Ashleigh Kruse. I am your new Miss Moorhead Outstanding Teen, 2017. My parents are Todd and Alecia Kruse. I have two sisters, Kaitlyn, age 9 and Madisyn, age 4. I am currently in 8th grade at Franklin Middle School in Thief River Falls. I like to stay busy and am in Just For Kix, dancing in Kick, Jazz/Lyrical and Hip Hop. I participate on the swim team, speech team and track team. I also play piano and violin.
My platform is “Standing up To Adversity, Girls with Asperger’s Syndrome.” Asperger’s Syndrome is four times more likely to be diagnosed in boys than girls. I want to raise awareness for girls with Asperger’s Syndrome and be a role model for others. I want to help those who may be struggling with their symptoms to let them know they are not alone. I want girls to feel strong in who they are and the value they bring to the world.
I am honored to be given the opportunity to represent the community of Moorhead for the next year. This will not only allow me the opportunity to volunteer and give back to the community, but will also give me the chance to promote my platform and the national platform of the Miss America Organization, The Children’s Miracle Network.
