Morgan Laine is the 18-year-old daughter of Richard and Dana Laine. She was born and raised in Osage, Minnesota, but she graduated from Frazee High School in 2016. Being the youngest sibling in her family, Morgan became competitive and enjoyed a challenge. She was a triple-sport athlete, involved in cross country, gymnastics/dance, and track; she was the first of her seven siblings to earn the Triple Crown Award, a prestigious award given to athletes who remained in three sports through all of their years in high school. Morgan was also involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, and was also head editor of the Yearbook. Morgan is a freshman at Minnesota State University in Moorhead; although not currently involved in anything, she hopes to become involved in her new community.
Her mother jokes that Morgan has been singing long before she knew how to talk. Morgan loves to sing, and enjoys learning different genres of music. She has been involved in high school musical productions for three years and earned a lead role her senior year.
Morgan's platform is based on a personal experience she had earlier this year. On March 6th, she was heading home from the Miss Bemidji pageant when an SUV struck the passenger side of her vehicle on the highway; Morgan was the passenger. Both drivers had bumps and bruises, but Morgan took the force head-on; she was left with two broken feet and a broken leg two days before her senior year of track. Later on, she found out that the driver who struck her vehicle was on her cell phone and ran a stop sign, hitting Morgan and her driver. Although she was wheelchair-bound for four weeks, Morgan remained positive and chose instead to use her impermanent disability as a way to show the people around her the dangers of distracted driving. She began actively working towards getting her friends and family members to become safe drivers and to remain focused on the journey ahead of them. Morgan takes every chance she can to talk to the public about her platform, and hopes to continue to help spread the dangers of distracted driving as her reign as Miss Frazee continues throughout the year.
