MISS WEST METRO
Miss West Metro 2009 is Kathryn Knuttila!
Who has inspired you? That is the question that fueled Kathryn's innovative platform, "Inspiring America."
"Inspiring America" focuses on the good in America and seeks to recognize heroes among us that are doing inspiring works
of service. She created a website: www.whohasinspiredyou.com, where you can
nominate someone inspiring to you, read other inspiring stories and quotes, and be a part of this web of inspiration.
Especially in this time of economic stress, we need to remember that there are great things happening around us
all the time. The time is right to celebrate the uplifting spirit of the American people.
This is also a great way to let people know the service aspect behind Miss America. "Inspiring America" takes the
focus off the titleholder and highlights the people that the crown represents.
Kathryn is a 22 year old currently living in Detroit Lakes, where she operates her own private piano studio,
works as a music director at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee, MN, and is taking part time classes at
Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
About the Pageant
Miss West Metro was held in conjunction with Miss City of Lakes as an Open Sweeps pageant. Participation was open to all contestants who were not current titleholders in the Miss Minnesota system, who had previously competed in a Minnesota Local, and who still met all the eligibility requirements set forth by the rules of the Miss America Organization.
