Miss Coon Rapids

Miss Coon Rapids 2011 is Megan Ehlert!

Education: University of Minnesota Twin Cities – College of Food and Animal Sciences

Platform: “Tails of Independence” in conjunction with Can Do Canines

Scholastic/Career Ambition: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and operate a pet food nutrition store

Talent: Baton Twirling

Accomplishments: Raising and training the first Autism dog (Reno) in the State of Minnesota; trained over fifty service dogs for Can Do Canines to help the disabled lead a better life. Represented, raised funds and visited orphans in Honduras. Lived and thrived in a foreign country, China, for five months not knowing any Mandarin upon arrival!

Interesting Fact: I brought a cat home with me from Beijing – his name is “Lao Hu”, but he is learning his English name of “Tiger”. I can twirl three batons and a fire baton; however, only three at a time! I have been twirling since the age of seven.

PAGEANT HISTORY
The Miss Coon Rapids Scholarship Program is proud to be home to three Miss Minnesotas since our inauguration in 1965: Susan Erickson, Miss Minnesota 1978, Julie Richardson, Miss Minnesota 1991, and Megan Torgerson, Miss Minnesota 2003

The Miss Coon Rapids Pageant began as a community service project of the Coon Rapids Jaycees, it has always been a part of the Coon Rapids Snowflake Days celebration.

The Miss Coon Rapids Scholarship Pageant was incorporated in 1986. We have always had a strong program thanks to our dedicated volunteers, many who have been with our program for over 20 years! We have many new volunteers with our program this year who are very excited to produce the best Miss Coon Rapids Scholarship program ever!!
